really need to know cus my 16s are rubbing real bad! and i dont know why cus everyone said theyd fit! there only 195/40/16 :s somebody must of had there arches rolled recently!!! and thats with no one in the back just me and a passenger

havnet a clue what the offset is, brouhgt them off a guy who had them on his clio, how can i find out the offset??? and how would that make it scrub??

You really need the special tool that bolts onto the wheel hub. Also you need some way of heating the paint up so it doesnt crack.

so its better to go professional??? how can i find out my offset mate??? and what is the offset, i know the PCD is the distance between the bolts

The offset should be stamped either near the wheel bolt holes or on the back of the wheel somewhere.

If the offset is wrong it will make the wheel stick out to far, which will make it rub.

oh ok, well they guy brought the wheels from halfords so ill have a look.... what offset should i be looking at for a MK1? And can i solve the problem?

I think the offset should be 35 or 37 mm, not sure, but I whould think someone will correct me if im wrong.

the offset on mine is ET37, if the offset is lower ie 30, the wheels will stick out more, if it is higher e.g. 40 they will be closer to the hubs

Mine are 36.. it scrapes like a swine with people in the back on bumps.

No arch rolling is going to fix it.. its the inner arch which is the problem..

On the other hand, I think my rear shockers have had it and Im running 195/50/15s.

i had mine done and i have 16s with 195/45 rubber on it. I have had the lip of the arch totally ground off and it still rubs slightly with ppl in the back, as daz sed i think its the inside of the arch for me too.

what bout all the sh*tty stuff at the top of the arches, the plastic stuff, will that rub??? and what sort of damage will it do to the tyres??

I just worry about it going down and smashing the arch to pieces.

Gunna try and get some new shocks put on soon.. it never used to scrape much.. but I think the shocks have had it, and its slowly getting worse.

u cant roll the Mk1 rear archs due to the shape of em, even if a company would attempt it it wouldnt solve it as the ladz said its due to the arch lip which will need to be cut away then treated with protective sealant to stop it rustin

so do you think it will be easier to just raise my torsion bar?? the wheel is sitting under the arch by bout 5 - 10 mm on 16s, think i should raise it... hopefully pics up soon

the torsion bar is like a star for example when u take it out u turn the bar so the legs go into the next hole up/down and push it back in (One Click)

1 Click i think everyone established was about 30/40mm

u can measure it whereever doesnt make a difference to how much its dropped!

Basically take it back to the garage u got it lowered and ask em to raise it by one click

LivinLegend is right.. you just go to where ya want then push it in!

This 1 Click, 2 Click business dont work.. heh.

jus tryin to sound professional!

When i got mine lowered they jus lowered the jack and said How about there? Or there? There?

then they jus shoved it bak in

lol yeah part from i cant for some reason highten my car up!!! cus the rear axle has siezed and i cant push it down, main reason for not putting it back up
