are 17’s worth having the arches rolled

im in a bit of a dilemma at the minute.

do i fit a set of 16" wheels with 195-45 tyres, without any body mods needed or fit 17s and have the arches rolled slightly? ive tried a 17"wheel and its bloody close to both the outer arch and the rear suspension, whereas the 16s will fit no probs. ive had the car lowered bout 40mm all round as well

if i choose 16s im goin for a style that goes rite to the edge like kosei snipers etc.

any suggestions/opinions welcomed

17s can cause you other problems if they are not really light. personally im getting 16s.

i think 17s look better, but like i said, sometimes they have ill effects.

thats what i was thinking as well, plus its cheaper to run a set of 16s!!!

dito - 17s for looks, 16s for performance (well a bit more than 17s anyway!)

Ive noticed that youve got an RSi as well mate! Ive got 16" rims on mine and theyre aint a lot of room. The cars suspension is standard as well. I wouldnt bother going for 17s myself. I did consider it but when I found out that it would be necessary to roll the arches I didnt think it was worth the hassle.

As im sure youre already aware, rolling the arches just involves heating the arch very gently and then rolling/flaring it out using a specialised tool. The process needs to be repeated a few times in order to achieve a nice smooth roll. BUT, theres always the chance of the paint cracking when the arches are rolled.
