They tend to on the rear, it's not uncommon despite what some will say. Yes they are galvanised and no it doesn't necessarily mean it's been in a smash..

Never seen much rust on any RS Clio. Little bit of mess inside the bonnet, and the boot, but nothing on the outside anywhere in my experience.

Not that it makes it impossible, but the car is completely HPI clear and there were no signs of any repair or creasing

Car spent most of it's life in the highlands so would of been exposed to cold weather, grit and salt. Also the door sills were rusty along with the spare wheel well..

Cars, they rust.

Even R.S Clios ;)

Are your quarter panels the original ones or have they been changed/repaired? as far as you know of course!!

Try again ;)

There is no quater panel. It's a clever French design meaning one little bump at the rear and the whole car is a write off.

I bet those arches are (or were if that's yours pre-op, saltyscone) full of wet mud.

Mine's rusted on the tailgate under the number plate. Instead of using the correct holes to mount the number plate, the supplying dealer decided drill a couple more and use self tapping screws. Muppet.

All modern press shops use zinc plated sheet for most panels. The exception is often high strength assemblies such as sills and B-billars. Really depends on the manufacturer, but every car I've been involved in uses plated steel for the exterior panels at the very least.

However that doesn't mean the car itself is galvanised as such. The plating wears thin on tight forms in the pressing. It gets scratched or even sanded off when imperfections are repaired. Then of course it tends to burn off around spot welds when the body is constructed. It helps prevent corrosion but it only really delays the inevitable. Certainly doesn't make a car rust proof.
