Are my shocks shot?

When i go over small bumps in the road i have a creak noise from the shocks, i thought it was the top mounts so i replaced them and it didnt change a thing! So i got out the car and when i rock it back an forth the creak definetly comes from the shock any ideas?

Take it off and inspect, if you can push the piston in and out by hand very easily then its gone

Ok cheers, tbh i didnt even think thats how i checked the shock i guess i just didnt no what to look for on the compression side of things lol #dumbass lol
