are the seats really leather

Hi all... ok this has been on my mind for a while now... I know the seats in my MKII 172 are alcantara (sp) and leather... each side of the alcantara feels like leather... but the back (where the pocket is) and sides of the seat (down the bottom) feel like the plastic vinyl stuff... anyone else noticed this ? The pattern on these parts is too uniform and they feel a lot thicker..

I shall have a feel under the back of the drivers seat tomorrow. Hope I am not going to be dissappointed and find it is really PVC.

I am fairly sure that the head rests are leather.

I might have to go the whole hog and just put vinyl seat covers on.

last time I felt under the seats I found an old KFC bag, think it still had half a Zinger tower burger meal in the bag.. shame to waste..

the only leather in there is on the edges of the front seats

Then it does say in the specifications "PART LEATHER SEATS" so technically correct. Another Renault rip off!!!

might it just be that the fronts get more wear so have a different texture? Leather does go through an ageing process when its new, it dries out a bit and gets worn in. Id be surprised if theyd shoved PVC into a range topping car.

Yeh or bloody funny cows, the leather must have come off  Because on the side it has AIRBAG stamped into it ;)

dunt really mean owt because the leather pattern itself is stamped onto lower grade leather (which they probably use cos its cheaper and better for car seats) Only very high grade leather has the actual top layer of cow skin on it. 90% of leather you see on seats or sofas or whatever comes from leather further down the cow skin, basically mushed up and stamped to make it look like skin.

I used to work for a furniture shop which is how I know so much about leather not cos I have a gimp suit or owt ;)

It says part leather seat cos alcantara is not leather its man made so hence only part leather.

Just get down and have a sniff, ifi it smells like leather then it is leather!
