Are Williams that quick

Just wonderin how quick Williams are? They dont look any faster on paper really than a 16v.

Everyones probably gonna get all protective over them now cos they have such an "image". Id like to see a decent running 16V and a Williams head to head sometime.

I dunno if im that great a driver really and mines pretty standard but id like to see the outcome of a couple havin a little race.

I know Craggys is meant to be fast and I know hes a good driver but seein them vids of the VTS and the williams its just got me wonderin if they are so quick.;)

Comments people, vids would be great if there are any.

More torque, usually have more BHP than on paper too! Iv been in the car with Craggy and the Williams is fast as fook.

Adi has just swapped his 1800 16v for a Williams and is impressed! Maybe a modded 16v would beat a standard Williams though!

well Ive raced a valver at the Pod... Close at first, but I really pulled away in 3rd. Lost the timing slip though. Ill try and find it.

Remember the 16v model will clear 60mph in second and the Williams needs a change to third, so on paper it does look a bit limp. The 30-70mph, and 50-70mph figures are more revealing!

They tend to be most impressive in third gear upwards as far as sheer poke goes but they are very fast across country and a laugh a minute!

I raced a williams recently off the rounderbout, we were neck and neck to 90mph where he started to pull away about a cars length infront.

I personally thought that he would have embarrased me alot earlier but keep the 16v in the legendary powerband and the willy has a tough time getting past as proven.
 


aaronc, considering urs looks like a williams. it prolly seemed like 2 williams messing around, so noone would have been embarrased ;)
 


I dont know what the Willy is like compared to the 16v, but compared to my MK2 172 is seems very similar. Last night I blue-tacked a digital camera to my dashboard pointing at the speedo and had a go at some 60mph runs. Despite freezing temperatures, wet roads and a full tank of bog standard Morrisons petrol, I was able to get to 60 (including the gearchange at 57mph!) in the low 7 second bracket. Ill pop the vid up when I get home this evening and people can stopwatch it for themselves! I was wanting to do 100mph as I reckon it is under 18 seconds in the Willy (favourably comparable to my 172) but conditions were too bad to do so. Might try again tonight.

Regarding the VTS vs. Willy results, I think we all have to face it that either Craggy has picked up another very fast one-off, or the VTS needs to be given a bit more respect!

lol! Most of it is actually going on about whether a diesel 306 HDi will beat a Valver. BTW, in the initial videos of me against Craggy, I had a broken Catalytic Convertor blocking my exhaust. It is actually neck and neck between the VTS and the Willy.

Hopefully Lofty and myself will be able to explore the 2.0 Willy vesus tuned 16v soon - were meeting on Saturday. Will post results here.

having had both an 1800 and williams engine i much prefer the willy its much more fun on the twisties where keeping the valver in the power band is a pain with many downchanges

i do miss the high revving nature of the 1800 a bit cos the willy limit seems a little early, the willy is only slightly quicker to 60 though as it requires a change into third but above that its much much quicker

my conversion cost around 900 quid head an cam work would have been 1500 and ive got a stronger box an new clutch too

a modded valver mite beat a standard willy but after head an cam work valver tuning gets really expensive whereas i can still get head an cam work done and make mine quicker than a modded valver again hehe

Where abouts are you Paul? Wouldnt mind a go against a 16ver just out of interest more than anything else.

Youve seen me before mate. Met me and Craig at the half moon about september time.

I live in Kiveton park.

Ill have a go mate. Im gonna have some 15s on though if im havin a razz. Think the 17s are killin my performance a bit.

Just been rollin roaded at 147BHP a few weeks ago. Its only got a filter and a exhaust with a de cat. I might have a chip though by then so might be over 150BHP all being well.

Yours will proably be quicker mate anyway, no replacement for displacement and all that lol. Be intrestin all the same.

Oh I should be takin her on the rollers if it gets organised in march. Is that goin ahead still??

there wasnt enough interest paul for a club day as theres a minimum number of cars needed,keep meaning to ring the place see if theyd take less for a blast.

He he, Id like to see the VTS gettin a thrash Craggy. My birds been fancyin either one of those or a 106 (basically same car) Maybe you could let her have a spin in it mate hehe. Cant be doin with her havin a faster car than me!

Are you inpressed with the VTS then mate?

doesnt matter mate no, but if your car is modded you may take me out!, its not invincible, i do really like it yes, interior is a bit rattly tho, going back to dealer for it sometime

I dunno about that mate. I dont reckon mines that quick. I dunno really tough cos not been in another valver to compare.

The interiors are pretty rattly on citroens I think mate. My GFs got an AX and thats pretty bad now. then again yours is new
