Ariel Removal - wtf!

Trying to cut down my mk1 v6 ariel by a few inches, problem is, the original one will not unscrew! I have used a tea towel, rubber gloves for extra grip, even pliers! the bugger will not unscrew!

any ideas?

Is it an aftermarket aerial, some of them have a little locking screw in the base of them to stop chavs nicking them, maybe loock for this

If it is standard and just stuck, as has been suggested before try spraying it with some WD40

i had something like that with my seat leon cupra... all it required was a heart stopping good old yank... the roof panel did bend and pop back into place LOL....

actually, i better clear that up before you pull the whole thing off the roof.

The one on my seat unscrewed, and then had an anti chav lock... you had to pull it really hard to break the lock once it was unscrewed.
