For those of you who are thinking of trying Asda you might want to get a small tent and set up outside the store now. You don't stand much chance of getting one unless you have a friend on the inside.

Also heard that Amazon won't get there shipment until Saturday.

Not many people will expect PC World to stay open until 12:30am friday morning...

Every PC World in the coutry will be selling them at 12:00 midnight, so i reckon thats your best chance to get one. Not many people will know we are still open.

Most stores only have the sh*t model without the hard drive, but should have stocks of the HDD to buy seperate.

Europe's largest Asda store get 12 units, this is such poor planning from microshaft. Glad I've never paid for a piece of software from them before.

Its called rush-releasing a console to try and make an impact before the PS3 and Revolution comes out, and it being Christmas also helps. Not to mention a nice console shortage is always a nice marketing tool, people want things more if its hard to get and it generates loads of news coverage if people queue up for hours to get one.

Remember only 300,000 units have been allocated to Europe, if you consider that 90,000 Nintendo DS units were sold in the UK alone within 2 days, then 300,000 across Europe really isn't much! If in doubt just go to Japan, based on XBox sales they will be buy 1 get one free by Christmas!

I will leave my personal comments regarding buying a £300 piece of kit to buy sequels, film licenses and remakes which are almost all available on current gen platforms out of it (at £10 more a pop as well), there is a time and a place!

I just don't get it at all...

Not the 360 itself, but the fact that people that will go to stupid, stupid extremes to get one. I really like gaming, ever since I got my mitts on an original Atari console in 1980 - and I'm just as eager as everyone else to see how the 360 will perform when it arrives.

BUT - why on earth (going off what Lee said) would you want to queue at your local Asda for 11 hours or so in order to get one? That would be bad enough if you were guaranteed one, but going off the tiny allocations, most people will leave empty handed.

People need to get a grip on what's important and clearly what's not. Spanking their monkey over a new console at 12.05 is clearly a bit much....

i have now managed to secure one for picking up in the morning, although it is only the core system but i will make it up to the premium anyway.

Always worth being very nice to people in stores, if you get the right person they will do you a favour like this guy has when he is not supposed to reserve units!

So no going out at midnight for me!
