Attracting the wrong kind of attention

  Vee dub

Do you find your Clio attracts the wrong kind of attention rather than the admiring friendly type of attention?

Im getting a bit fed up of seeing the same "Max Power" head over steering wheel stares from other cars!

Im usually just driving around and I manage to find a to$$er who has a point to prove...................

I enjoy chatting to people about my car (if they wanna know lol) and like to chat to others about theirs, but these boy racer type drivers do my nut in!

See a nice car...... smile or give them a wave i say

Any one else find this or is it just me! lol

I know what you mean. I have to drive through a right sh*thole to get to my gfs house, always get xr2is etc trying it on. Its fun the first few times, but they keep coming back for more! lol

I mean im getting annoyed with boy racer type drivers always having a point to prove by driving like an idiot when im in my car. Also the dodgy stares are a bit frustrating when your just driving along. Someone must have put a sticker on saying "i drive the best car ever, come try it..."

couldnt agree more m8 i hate the fact that because i have a heavilly modified car means that i automatically get put in the boy racer bracket....for one it was bought brand new its had 10 grand spent on it dont think any little tw*t could afford just as much as we all spend on our cars......i cant race my car cos its too slow and i wouldnt want to because of the hard work that has been put into getting it the way it is.....boy racers buy novas and rag the tits off them and give car enthusiasts such as our selves a bad name

rant over :)

^^^ looks great i reckon!

I really dont mind the odd look here and there (i actually like it if its an admiring glance obviously)

Nope.

Heard people walk by and say "Wow, a Williams". People whove looked at the car are all like, "a Williams?! Nice.." etc..

Most just seem to understand what the Williams badges and gold wheels mean..

  ex Clio 172 owner :(

I get that a lot too.

A lot of the time its from pillocks in bigger cars who either a, dont realise my car is quick, or b, do realise but not how much.

Often show them up.

What I dont like is tracksuit boy who I notice looking at my car as Im driving by and then he looks over his shoulder.

Exactly mate

I just want to drive along and enjoy driving the car without getting into ego orientated confrontations with other drivers of quick cars.

ahhh rite i get ya, i do know wot you mean - i was in my mates 5gtt goin to burnin bournmouth on sunday and we had a bunch of pikeys chaseing us in a astra

I had it happen to me today, a little chav in a mint green coloured mini with tints, leds etc undertook me and cut me up! No need at all, was in a 30 zone. Just thought to myself when will you learn? Probably when they end up causing an accident

Most people comment how nice the car is and are very friendly, especially other car enthusiasts. Your always get some people though like a 17yr old 1.2 or someone who doesnt know whats under the bonnet....

Cant blame them though, I know what I was like at 17 and know what Im like now if I see a scooby/Evo etc.....

  Vee dub

Yeah but Im not the type to look over and give someone evils (lmao) just because their car is quick or looks good. Might start showing some of them up but dont really wanna encourage the fools!

  133/225/CLS AMG

There is a definately a type of little chav who wants a modded car himself but rather than admire a better car would rather try and out drive you!!

I do actually read Max Power so dont think its fair to lump all modifiers together. But there is a definately an element of pikey scum with their Motorsport sunstrips and bolt on tail pipes.

Having said that I walked out of the pub following a group of burberry clad types and one walked past my car and said thats a phat motor and admired it. He jumped when I unlocked the doors but he was smiling away. :D

Yeah i think thats cool if someone likes your car and has a smile or says something Alex. Always a nice feeling.

I dont just get these annoying looks, its loadsa fun driving it around most of the time! :D

Lol...reading this post made me remember a few moments ive had. Baring in mind i have a NAPLES Valver

Moment 1. Last summer just after having my powerflow fitted, i went out for a drive (as anyone would). got stuck in some traffic. An old Rover 214 full of chavs shouted across, "is that a Wiliams?" my thoughts *to55er*

Moment 2. Parked up on side of road quite late at night with engine running waiting for my gf. A fiesta pulls up next to me, winds window down "wanna race"?. I said no thanks, Im waiting for someone. He then proceeded to ask "What car have you got"? I gave him one of these . Then he asked what size engine it was so I said 1.8 16v. He instantly slumped in his seat and stopped smiling "mines only a 1.4" so I laughed in his face as he proceeded to pull away very slowly and quite upset. once again *to55er*

sorry about the essay but thought it was rather funny!

Im actually having more of a problem with BMW and Audi man in the Vee.

Local BK/McD/KFC boys are interested and want to ask questions - even the chavs are my local convenience store wanted to talk about the car. Get plenty of other positive points and waves and thumbs up from other Clio drivers. Best was a group of primary school boys and their fathers one of whom exclaimed "now boys, thats what you call a car" :D.

However BMW/Audi man he just wants to race ... up my arse ... prove how his car is better and faster. Makes me laugh as I ignore him and just tickle the Vee along at low revs :devilish:

Its the twin pipes that seem to attract them - particularly on motorways.

Riding my ass like he paid an admission fee.

Im normally quite calm but yesterday i had an attack of the red mist, coming back down the M62 i had some Golf resting less than 6 inches* from my bumper.

*That is not an exaggeration.

I moved over and he moved behind me, then undercut me and dropped back. This carried on for miles. He was dangerous and i had reached my limit. Bit of a downhill section with light traffic ahead. Floored it & got rid.

By the way, how accurate are the speedos on these things? 151 and still climbing before i got sensible again.

lol @ tickle the vee at low revs!

Brilliant!

I love driving the valver around! its just idiots like these annoy me alot

lol @ rhinos post, some people eh? lol

I had the pleasure of following a V6 yesterday for a couple of miles. People literally stop walking and just look at it in amazement! I couldnt believe it, even people who you wouldnt expect to be remotely interested in cars were just watching it go by.

Must be an odd feeling in the drivers seat, fun for a while but for a shy lad like myself I think I would struggle with it (wouldnt say no to one though!), especially as I work at a College full of 17 year old lads in gangs such as 2smoothCrew and crap like that! Im still even struggling with the idea of a 182 because of the dual exhaust pipes, it makes me seriously consider a 172!

*LOL* I was up in Yorkshire at the weekend and everyone turned and looked at the Vee - old, young, etc. Some bloke even took a picture as I pulled out onto the main road!!

It attracts a fair few stares on the m-way too, and the usual collection of geezas who want a race ... tsk, tsk! Doesnt really bother me too much as most seem quite happy to actually see such a rare car in the flesh...

Saw a vee tonight when I was at a set of lights. Didnt even notice the lights had changed to green as I was too busy drooling

  850 T5. mmmm Turbo!

this post in a nut shell.

"people who modify or buy sporty clios, are above all other modified or sporty car owners"

,.,.,.,.,.,.,.,.,.,.,.,.,.,

LOL 151 and still climbing, off a cliff maybe or your speedo is way out as i doubt you would still be accelerating at that speed, plus you would need a hell of a runway!

No real need to boast those sort of speeds on a public highway is there really, you arent going to get a medal.

had a mini really close behind me tonight, could see 4 chavs in it! so i just slowed down, im not racing anyone through 30 limits!

There have been quite a few threads like this, and people always say the same thing....valvers/182s etc seem to attract the street racing types (whether their owners like it or not!) and the V6s just get 99% positive attention. Ive had mine for about 5 months, and in that time Ive only had a couple of....erm...blasts with other cars: one was a DB9 and my fault  (I lost very quickly) and the other was rmccardal (erm, lost again lol).

But if I think how many conversations and just pure staring has been directed at my car in that time, I lose count! Ive had bikers give me the thumbs up, grandads ask me what it is and cinquecentos going out of their way to catch a glimpse for a few more seconds.

Im sure this must happen in Ferraris and Lambos etc, but its the overwhelmingly positive attitude people have to the V6 which is such a surprise :D

But be warned, once you drive it after a week of normal cars you feel so paranoid....WTF are you all looking at!? haha, oh yes, its the car (as if I should be so lucky eh!)

The V6 is more of a rare car and also being so different from the average clio people treat it like its own model of car.

The williams/16v/172/182 looks like a modified standard clio and therefore attracts the kind of chavs who want to do the same to their rusty nova or escort so they feel the need to compete.

Besides what is it with chavs cramming as many people as possible i the back!?!?!?!

Ive already got my practiced air of indifference ... but Ive got a smug smile on the inside about them loving my car ;).

I get feck all in the 182 - used to get loads in the GTt. Quite like it in a way. Having said that, I noticed one lad walk past my car last night, did a double-take and then walked back, looking at the car all the time. Didnt look dodgy - well, at least I hope not!

I still think a lot of scroats dont know (or chose not to believe) that cars like the Clio can have a 2.0litre engine fitted as standard. I think it comes from the Nova/Corsa boys getting their siblings larger engines and then being plastered all over Max Power, etc.

D.

Im amazed at the number of people who ask, "So did you do all the mods yourself?" and are surprised when I reply, "No, I bought it from Renault like that, complete with the engine on the back seat!"...

Im sure the tailgaters I get is because of the tailpipe on my car. I had a total a w**k tailgating me today in a 30 zone, I mean, whats the point?
