Decided to put my sub back in last week but its being gay!

Basically when the engine is off it works fine. I have checked everything is wired properly and the amp has a solid 12v going to it.

However, when i turn the engine on the amp decides to not turn on!?!? Also the voltage goes up to 14v when the car is running so does this have something to do with it?

If I turn the headunit on and off about 5 times, it does eventually switch on.

Anyone got any ideas?

Remote cable on you HU playing up at a guess. Test it for voltage mate let us know.

It comes from the back of the HU.

It doesn't need to be 12, just enough to turn the amp on. Will read something at the amp if working.

The voltage goes from 12V to 14V due to the alternator running.

So what would cause the remote to work with the engine off and not when the engine is on? lol

There is no divide. Just engine off and HU on (so ignition on) then you will get 12v from the remote. When engine is running you'll get 14.4 from the remote cable (well you shoudl) All this does is click a relay within the amp.
SO basically more than likely the amp is knackered if you have 14.4 across from the remote when the engine is running and the Hu is on of course.
Or if engine on and HU on and you get no volts. Then HU is knackered.

Try running a thin cable from the power input on the back on the amp to the remote in on the amp. AS i presume there is power at the amp. This will tell you if it is a remote issue or not.
