Auto Glym Tyre Dressing

  Skoda Fabia vRS
recently ive been using this, preferring its spray on nature to the various gels that i have

i also love the fact it does a fantastic job on engine bay plastics and that all i have to do is spray it on and leave it to dry

however im wondering if there is anything else that i can maybe buy in a larger, better value, size ?

it must be a very similar, milky product, as ive already got tyre dressings of other sorts

AG stuff is very messy, unless you apply it with a detailing sponge. But i do like it, seems to work well with the s**t tyres i have on the vee...Plus it doesn't sling. Better for shows tho imo.

i dont care about the mess mate, it soon dries up and leaves the tyres lookin mint

I would get Blackfire gel. Ok so its not available in bulk as far as I know, but you probably will only need to apply it half as much, although probably less. I have recently done a 250 mile motorway journey in HORRENDOUS conditions and 4 weeks of normal driving in rain before that and still nice and black.

My advice would be by this and apply less often rather than buying loads of the AG stuff (not very good at all in my opinion) and applying more often.

If you want the AG Tyre Dressing in a larger size - get Autoglym Super Sheen from you local AG rep in 5 litre sizes.

Super Sheen is AG Vinyl and Rubber care, which is the same as AG Tyre Dressing with a lemon smell.

I use it on my own car at shows, best looking tyre product out there IMO for looks - day to use it does not really last so Blackfire Gel on the 182 and AG Rubber Plus on daily drive.

I have not bought any for a while, have about 15 litres of it from a big order a while ago lol

Can't remember the exact price circa 25 quid for 5 litres.

AG Rubber Plus ? That works well but lacks the Super Sheens gloss, lasts well on my daily drive.

AG Tyre Shine is designed for show room cars and not very water proof if it is the one I am thinking off.

tried to get the super sheen locally but its proving difficult

what about Meguiars Hyper Dressing ?

+1 for Blackfire.

Only dressing I have ever used which really lasts in the wet and really keeps its looks.

A lot of products are overhyped and leave you thinking "It could be better" but as far as concerned as long as they keep making this, I will keep buying.

In the Summer I was finishing the look with CG New Look dressing and on a well maintained black car it looked awesome.

I think its quite good. I dont think it lasts the best, but i find gels spray up the side of the car and ruin all the hard polishin you av just dun. Even if i really buff in the gel it still does it.

Are you talking about Blackfire or AG? That is another advantage of the Blackfire, no spray-off - if this is happening with the Blackfire you are either using too much or not buffing off properly.

I was sayin the AG is good. But ive used some other megs/turtle wax gels and as soon as you drive off it sprays. And on a LY car it shows up and is fukin anoying.

is the blackfire stuff a gel or a watery liquid ?

as i said originally ive already got more than one very good gel, it isnt what im looking for, i want something for tyres AND engine bay plastics that i can just spray on and leave to dry with no rubbing etc whatsoever, the Auto Glym gives me this but id like to buy in bulk

Poorboys Bold N Bright ????

The Blackfire is a gel but works great on most plastics too with a minimal amount of buffing. To be honest though I would buff pretty much any plastic dressing a little after applying it to get rid of any excess.

Bold n Bright is crackin mate..

Bold and bright is a thicker liquid than the AG Vinyl and Rubber but is thin enough to spray if you like and can be used on plastics. I like it, looks ace on tyres as well, though the Blackfire has the edge in looks and durability so I use that for normal use on the 182 tyres. Still back to good old AG on show days.

For the above use I would still stick to AG Vinyl and Rubber then. Only other product I have used for the same jobs is Einzett Vinyl and Rubber but is an expensive alternative for no extra gains.

Oddly enough I find mixing MER Tyre shine and Megs Endurance together in a mug works really well. Because the Megs is watered down it tends not to "sling" yet still lasts for ages while the MER dries in no time...
