Aux belt noise

  172 ph II
Hi, have just started getting a noise from aux belt, very squeaky when starting as and seems to have got worse these last couple of days. I have checked the service history and the cambelt was changed 1 year ago but doesn't mention anything about aux belt.

Anyone know how much am I looking at approx for getting it done, cheers

The likelihood is that the aux belt was replaced with the cam belt but not the tensioner. It sounds as though the tensioner has seized (not uncommon) and the noise is from a progressively loosening belt.

You're looking at £220-£250 (from a specialist rather than a main dealer) which should include the full belt kit (i.e. a new tensioner). I use JMS Tuning who are in West London. They are absolutely brilliant (see elsewhere on this board for testimonials) but are a bit far from where you are.

Also, get it sorted quickly. If the aux belt comes off then 99 times out of a 100 it will take the cam belt with it. Very expensive!

Good luck - hope this helps
