Axle Stands

  Iceberg Ph1
Hi there.. looking for some info or some pics maybe of the best point for jacking and axle stands on my ph1 172?

Am planning on taking off the fronts and then the rear wheels and checking out all the dampers, springs etc to find the point my car keeps knocking.. Thing is I need to know how to get the car jacked up and the place the axle stands! I know your not supposed to jack one side place the stands then move to the other side and do the same, so is there a central jacking point on the front and rear of the car itself and where is the best place to place the axle stands once lifted?

Cheers guys

Under the car you will see like 2 strips about 2-3inches wide and run to the back of the car, rest them on there as thats the chassie(sp) If your using a Hydralic jack use the chassie, but if your using a scissor jack then use the sill

dont rest them on the sill as that will just bend and look ugly as f**k :)

Cheers.. Yeah I do know the parts your on about, I remember seeing them when I had my head buried under the car the other day having a nose about.. How about a central jacking point? I don't have 2 trolley jacks so will be hard getting both sides up at the same time..

you jack one side up first set the axle stand, then go round to the other side and do the same, dont be scared it looks like its going to fall but its safe.

When placing the axle stands dont put them in the centre, place them more to the front

Cool.. Sounds easy enough.. Just looking on my stands it says DO NOT do one side then the other.. Haha.. Sod it.. Unless you got 2 jacks and can synchronise the lifting I guess its the only possible way :rasp:

Cheers for the help!
