B&M QuickShift

  2008 Golf GTI Edition 30

First of all, thanks to matt (j3n3d) for it in the first place.

I fitted this afternoon, it wasnt too bad to fit, dropped one end of the cat, removed the heatshield and dropped the old gearstick out. Repeat that in reverse order and the B&M quickshift was fitted.

Its quite nice to use actually, thought Id miss the leather gearknob, but not really. it feels solid, and actually has less wobble than the standard setup.

Changing gear is so much easier, it definitely feels like the throw is shorter.

Taken from http://www.needforspeed.co.ukwww.needforspeed.co.uk

"B&M Short Throw Sport Shifters offer a dramatic improvement in shifting performance. This is due in large part to a reduction in shifter travel (shift throw).

The shift throw is shortened by changing the sticks pivot point. By changing the pivot point, they reduce the distance the top of the stick must travel to engage the gears."

Its quicker to change gear? ie "quickshift"?

Less time between pressing the clutch pedal and allowing it back up again?

  Audi A6 (S3 on order)

It also increases the time between new gearboxes AND increases glove sales in high street.

I like the idea though ;)

That I can understand, went and used the car at lunch and it was bloody freezing again.

It does add to the driving experience, changing gear is suddenly more interesting than before!
