ball joints 172??

right. i have found the irritating knockin noise!
wasnt ARB bushes and after everyone tellin me it WASNT ball joints i was sure it sounded like nothing else and took it to a renault garage and they said was ball joint.
ive had a ball joint done on this before on other side and was only like £15 for the ball joint.
this renault garage sayin its part of wishbone and have to buy entire wishbone????

whats the crack there? the other one i did get changed was a seperate ball joint and only had to replace that not entire wishbone.

any pointers please?! who knows anyone to fit this in manchester area if get one from ECP/GSF parts?

You dont need to replace the arm, just buy the ball joint, £15 or so

yeah thought so. the big helmets! theres only 1 ball joint per side isnt there? (bear with me im NO MECHANIC! - no sh*t!), the one right where the steering arm joins the hub if wheel?

To replace, undo the 2 nuts connecting it to the arm and the nut on the hub, use a BJ splitter

The knocking noise I had, was the CV joint on mine.

About £50 for a new lower suspension arm from Renault, which maybe the same part as you need. (I'm no mechanic either)

yeah thats it Gav cheers. that bottom joint on your pic. so that can be fixed seperately and buy that for £15? i dont need whole arm?

Yep, it £15 from Renault (i think) mine cost £9ish from memory from a factors., easy to do, get a ball joint splitter as they can be quite a b**ch to get out without one.

I just used a cheap ass impact splitter i got off ebay for a couple of quid, same as this

im desperate to get this done so i rang the national tyres closest to my work.
1 is saying that they have to buy the whole arm and fit it for £90?!?!
i know that this aint true now tho so rang another one and they said theyd do just the ball joint for £40. two national tyres 1 mile apart aswell.
just whatever they get told tho i guess or lazy or wat??

As said you cannot buy just the ball joint its the whole arm you need.

You can use the ball joint off the Scenic and I forget what other cars I can get you the dimentions but its unlikly a dealership will have them in stock anway so its not like you can measure.

IMO just buy the whole wishbone.

^^^^ As the man said. On Dialogys it says you can't buy a ball joint on its own. Some have managed to find them from somewhere though so good luck.

I once replaced just the ball joint, Knocking do not disappear.

Trackings off most likely, seeing as its supposed to have been done I imagine they haven't done it properly. Take it back and get them to sort it.
