Ball Joints and Tyre Wear

Ok there have been a couple threads about this, but I couldn't find a definitive answer...

My car failed it's MOT on Friday due to a knackered ball joint. It was also an advisory that both front tyres were wearing towards the limit (both on the inside of the tyres).
Will just one failed ball joint cause this on both sides??

I have since changed the ball joint (read as my dad has changed it), plus has tracking re-done. Should this have sorted the problem and stop the tyres from wearing unevenly?!

I'm pretty concerned about this, as I only had the tyres back in December and the inners are looking pretty worn already.

Any help would be much appreciated.

I'm pretty sure it's tracking that causes the uneven tyre wear. When you get some new tyres, you can check if it's doing it again by running your hand round the inside edge of the tread. It'll start to feel really rough one way that you run your hand if the tracking is out again. If I remember correctly, your pic you put up with the tracking computer screen was absolutely miles out? Don't know if anyone else has any suggestions though.

I've been reading that if a ball joint goes though, then that can cause the tracking to go out, subsequently causing uneven tyre wear.
I don't understand why both have worn on the insides though. I had my tracking done back in February, as I knew it was way out then. When I had it re-done on Saturday, it wasn't out by much.

Also to add, since changing the ball joint, a "knock" has been making an appearance every so often. *sigh*

Also to add to this, rather than making a new thread, my steering veers badly to the left all the time and the wheels just don't feel planted when going around corners.
What could all this indicate to? Something wrong with the suspension or something, or could it be the driveshafts? I have no idea, as you can probably tell.

Could the knock be the old ball joint having more stress due to the new one being stiffer?

That problem has been solved. The new ball joint wasn't quite sitting right, which caused the knocking sound. That's fine now. It's the steering that is drifting that's concerning me. Want to get it sorted.
