Ballast problems! Please help!!

Hi guys,

I only bought my Clio 182 about 2 months ago and am very new to all this :-\

The passenger dipped beam went so i bought D2S bulbs as reccomended on here. However, these did not work. So i'm guessing it's the ballest?!

I went to a independent Renault specialist today and they gave me the product code for the ballast i needed. This is: 7701207033. This part costs £229 from a Renault dealer. I don't really want to spend this much so close to christmas so have looked on ebay. Does anybody know if the HID Ultra Slim Ballast Xenon Conversion kits will also fit? As these are much cheaper! Or can anyone reccomed one that will fit my car and where i can get it from?

Also the renault specialist I spoke to said once these ballasts go they are a nightmare to fix as you have to take the bumper off. And that once a ballast goes they have a tendency to keep breaking even if you replace both ballasts and put new bulbs in. Is this true?!!

Someone please help me out as i don't have a clue!

I still have no idea what to look for. Can i replace my standard factory fitted ballasts with a conversion kit one? Will it even fit?

You are looking for a Clio Ballast and it looks like this in the picture and it sits directly under the headlight.
