Battery Cut Off Switch For Low Power? Is There Such A Thing.

  Coiley'd Clio PH2
Ok, this has happened to me quite a few times now. I know i need a new battery because it just dis-charges so quickly.
For example, if i dont have my engine running and i have my music running at a low volume and the side lights on the battery will drain within about 10 minutes.

Is there anything i can buy that wanrs me when the battery voltage is getting low? Or something that cuts in and stops the power getting so low that i cant start the car?
I know some cars come with it already built in but can you buy it as an after market thing?

Thanks
Nick

your battery must be really fucked to last 10 mins.

i can have my music running for about 2 hours (quite loud) while im cleaning the car and i have quite a large amp.

you can get a digital voltmeter which will tell you the voltage accross the battery terminals i think. then you will know when you have to start the car if it gets down to a certain voltage.:)

Yea, i think i should invest in a better battery
Any recommendations people?

What i ideally want is something that will just cut out the power to any electronics if the voltage starts to get too low.

no idea tbh.

i do know that on my dads boat, you can play the radio, fridge, microwave and have the lights on with the engine off. then after a certain amount of hours they will turn themselves off due to the battery level decreaseing to much so you can always start the engine to be able to get home or charge the batteries up.

Yea that would be the sort of thing i would be after.
Might be worth me popping into sextons and seeing if they can do anything.

Cheers for your help mate.

Yea you get them on boats , I just changed over a faulty one the other day on boat at work
You can also set the limit of when It cuts out
Will work on a car no problem ; cost is upto about £170
Try alfatronics or victron
