Battery Disconnection - 182

  Inferno 182 cup
Hey guys..gonna try and fit my Tweets today, whilst i got some good weather, so have a question. Located all the screws i need to take out but i see you all suggest taking the power out to avoid the air bag going off.

Looking at it, seems the best wire to take out is the Negative (black) as the Positive is a bit more complicated? But its kinda got a bolt which needs a spanner to undo on..So my basically me being a bit of a wimp is, will i get eletrocuted lol. Any suggestions on how to get it off? I feel a bit silly asking

Believe you'll only get a shock if you touch both terminals.

.. I could be wrong though. I'm a wimp too! :D

i took my dash of this morning to fit my tweeters. got the dash off then realised the airbag was there and i was like whoops i should have disconnected the battery though. it was fine. if you want to just spin off the positive terminal and pull the wires off. leave for 20mins then take the dash off.

Make sure u have radio codes!!! oh dear panic over...
Just remove the negative then press the horn or hazards or anything really, even turn on ignition. That will then hopefully discharge the caps, so you shouldnt even have to wait 20 mins :)
Do both to be extra cautious!
All this about both must be removed... I cannot see why current require a complete circuit to flow, and with a break anywhere it will not. So just make sure it's off. Don't be scared, not like being the earth route of a tig welder. Sh1t, you don't do that twice!!!

Umm it took about an hour in total, to take it off, install, replace. Removing the dash was totally painless and tooks about 10mins tops. The timely bit is wire fiddling and cutting/stripping the bloody things..think i was lucky that my tweeters fitted into the old ones with a little push to! Drive a 182 Cup so took me while to figure out that 4 of the screws are hidden under the "silver interior strips" - was afraid id break them pulling them off, but u gota pull hard!
