How do you tell if its knackered? I cant remember exaclty, but it should read specific voltages when running and not running.

Also what options for batteries are there? I have heard that you can get high capacity ones and smaller ones?

I am after one that is small so doesnt take much boot space up, and will still hold a charge if the car hasnt been used for a week. Dont want to mess around with trickle chargers.

When you get back to the airport from a 2 week holiday and its as dead as a dodo.

the checker i have reads

Engine OFF Battery Check
12.5V GOOD
12.0V LOW
5.0V FLAT

ENGINE RUNNING Alternator check
15.0V High Output
14.0V Normal Output
13.5V Low Output

yeah shud be at 12.5v ... i need to charge mine as its sitting at 12.0 and u can tell. quite a difference

Mine doesnt start first time, so need to get out and check battery now. Fires up second time every time.
