Be Broadband

  Tesla MP3 2021
Just wondering who on here is with Be for their broadband.
I have currently got Virgin Media 20mb (cable) but i have been having a nightmare with them lately, they have cut my account, limited my access and so on............

The Be Pro service looks good and for only £3 more than my current service. Also there are no limits in anyway which is pleasing.

So what is the service like and how is the reliability?

explain....

would you say the unlimited package is good enough?

Do you actually need a static IP? The only other benefit is a slightly faster upload speed. If that's worth £15 a month extra to you then fair enough.

I'm with Be. They're great except most weekends I'm warned of possible outtages due to essential maintenance. But tbh, I've not noticed any downtime whilst I've been wanting to go online (doesn't mean to say there was no outtage though).

It was down on Wednesday though due to flooding, but seemed to be back up pretty quickly.

Don't make the usual mistake of assuming that upload rate is achievable to all. Just as various factors affect the download speed you'll be able to attain those same factors affect upload speed as well.

1.3mbps upload is perfectly adequate for me and I wouldn't waste another £15 to maybe get that figure to 2mbps possibly 2.2mbps upload.

Fine to be fair mate. Don't get me wrong there's been a couple of outages in the 6 months I've been with them but as a whole they're excellent.

All I will say is I know they have capacity issues in the Manchester/North West area so if you live in that area you'll experience problems for a couple more weeks yet.

Edit - You do live in that area.. :(

I'll add their quote below -

Dear Manchester Be-ing,

You may recently have noticed that your broadband speeds are a little slower than before, this is as a result of the fantastic response you’ve had to our service in your area. We are working very hard to get additional capacity in your exchange, which will ensure that your broadband service returns to the levels you were previously experiencing.

Although we had anticipated the need to increase the capacity in your area, the work has been delayed due to circumstances that are out of our control. We are doing everything we can to ensure this issue is resolved as quickly as possible and are currently being assured that the work will be completed within 2-3 weeks.

Many thanks for your patience and continued support.

Regards

One thing they have going in their favour is they provide a forum for Be members (customers) only and they are quite forthcoming and approachable with information.

If there is a problem or you need any help it saves either phoning Virgin (India is it now?) or messing about with the gimps on Think Broadband.

They also do SMSs, if you give them your number.

They are good at telling you of problems or potential problems. Good service if you ask me.

HAHA, indeed.

For now. I never imposed a timelimit, however. Just wait until O2 start introducing (or enforcing) the FUP and start traffic shaping etc.

I don't think they will mate. When Sky took control of Easynet all the Ukonline customers we're waiting for it to be rebranded and harsher limits imposed but Ukonline was left as a seperate entity. It's more than likely O2 wanted Be for their LLU network and will launch O2 Broadband as part of a mobile, home phone, internet package. I'm sure they'll leave Be alone as a premium/high user ISP.

Well after a couple of days of thinking I have decided to try Be (unlimited). Phoned up Virgin this morning and offered my fairwells.

All is going through with Be :).
Just out of interest for the guys who are with Be when can you setup an email account with them?
