Beards Rb182 cup

  Kangoo 182
So after selling my last clio, I have cheap bangers to drive around in so I could save for a house, but have missed driving around in a clio! Over the last couple of months I have beeen looking for another Clio but this time it had to be either a 172 cup or a 182 cup in racing blue. Last week I spotted on faceaids marketplace a car that ticked all the boxes and after finally getting hold of the seller, we agreed a price and the deal was done.

So the car is completely standard apart from the molten exhaust, has had belt and dephaser done and has 94k on the clock.

The plans at the mo are to renew the suspension with standard parts and so decent lowering springs, change the wheels to Turinis or 2118’s and update the sound system

I’m sure at some stage engine tweaks will be done but for now I’m just going to give her a proper clean and enjoy!

What's a molten exhaust lol?

Bet it looks great in the flesh. I would renew the N/S fog lamp, ditch the Clio stick on the rear window?!, get a genuine/replica of the Cup splitter itself and just go from there or leave it and keep it well looked after mate.

Also the sill kick plates missing? Not sure if I prefer with or without tbh?

@imprezaworks has yours got any?

My RB182 Cup has them.

Bloody iPad, miltek exhaust ha ha. Clio sticker is going tomorrow as it’s already doing my head in. I am also looking for a cup splitter or Skoda one and a pair of front fogs.

Racing blue is the best colour !

Definitely. I considered some 182 wheels for winter wheels when I bought the car, but think I’ll get some ph1 valver turbines.

Fair enough. Turinis do look great but everyone has them. Yeah I know for good reason. But.

Here’s my car on Turinis :)

Oh look there’s 10 more with exactly the same look.

They appear in standard 182’s as well Chris. I think Renault produced one style, then changed their mind about the design during production of the 182’s.

All very ‘Renault’ if you ask me..

Indeed... ha! They look more like the 197 ones. Strange as our old LY 182 never had them on a 2005 reg.

Part number anyone ??

Looks nice that. RB is definitely my favourite factory colour. A shame they tend to be quite expensive now.

I think I’m the only person on here that thinks the original wheels on both the ph2 172 and 182 are ugly!!!

Each to their own I guess. In my opinion, the Ph2 valver wheels were also nasty too!

Sorry!

You're definitely not the only person. I think they look bloody awful. They're better than Ph.2 172 wheels, but still pants.

Unfortunately not but it has had belt and dephaser done recently and has been on this club before, plus for what I paid, I don’t mind too much as this will be a keeper as I’m not allowed any more clios (no.7 )

So ive had the car just over a month, getting to know it and find and fix a few bits that were needed.

The car never ca,e with a parcel shelf, fortunately a lad at work smashed his Clio up so i borrowed on a long term basis his parcel shelf.

I removed the Clio sticker on the rear screen and replaced the rear exhaust mounts with poly bushed ones. Also fitted a Milltek de cat pipe which makes a nice difference in sound :)

Rear number plate light look tired and old, so new led bulb and holder, makes so much difference ( it’s the little things that make the big differences)

Engine management light was on, so plugged it in to find carbon canister was at fault, checked the carbon canister and there wasn’t much left of it and the plug was not connected, so bye bye canister, plug connected back up, reset trouble code and hey presto, no engine light, well for now at least!

I found on Facebook a company who make custom dials and decided that I’d get some made, whilst waiting for them to arrive, I painted the dial surrounds. Now all fitted, I think it looks awesome.

Final bit for today, I have purchased a cup alternator set up, epas conversion, Tessa inlet ( which I’ve tweaked and painted ) new coil pack and pms coil relocation bracket, genuine oil and filter, new leads and plugs, a Marc b battery cover, ram air filter ,polybushed dogbone mount, reinforced wishbones with polybushes and a mk1 Renault traffic alternator bracket ;)

So spent yesterday doing a sevice, inc oil, filter, new plugs, leads, coil pack, expansion bottle, coolant, map sensor and oil pressure sensor (because I’m heavy handed and broke them both) I also fitted a polybushed dog bone, mount and engine mount, Marc b battery cover, new blue leads, blue coolant pipes and a coil relocation bracket oh and my newly painted inlet  All went well until I realised I didn’t have the correct breather plate (correct one on route) so had to use the original and block of the outlets and when it got started, I found I had an air leak, to which I haven’t found yet!! Guess what I’m doing over Easter weekend then!

In other news, my cup set up and most of my Epas set up finally arrived, so once I’ve got the car idling normally, I’ll crack on with that! Anyway before and after pictures because we love pictures
