Bedding In !!!!!

How long does this take for brakes [front] ??? Just had new discs and pads fitted and driving home they felt absoloutely sh*te !! The car just wasnt stopping, my dad thinks they just need bedding in but surely I should be able to skid in the wet, not even the ABS is kicking in ? What do you think, is this normal or should I go back and do my nut ??

Thanks for any info,

Mike

they NEED bedding in, about 200 miles drivin, be careful on em and DONT stamp on em unless its an emergency

I got told off for stamping on my brakes when new discs/pads fitted.. haha.

200 - 250 miles very light braking - brake MUCH earlier for things..

Siht, stamped on them !!!! I had to at one point [woman with kid in middle of the road in the dark] anyway the car didnt want to stop so I tested it again ? What happens if you do this ? Should the brakes really be this sh1t ?

Mine to start with were pretty bad, until they bedded in and all the grease and stuff burnt off.

Ok cheers, will give it a bit longer, was just well shocked when I drove it as the brakes were worse than before, just hope that giving them a rough time on the way home hasnt spoilt them.

Youll know if youve fooked em, they will continue to feel sh*te, as a glaze forms on the surface of the pad and doesnt allow enough friction, either that or youll get judder - should be all reet though.

If I have put a glaze o them, wouldnt it fix itself through gentle breaking from now on though ? Fingers crossed anyway, will just have to try and explain to the Mrs before she tries driving now !!!!!!!!!!!!!

Some sports pads require a specific bedding in process too, so check to make sure the pads aint got any needs like that!

give the pads chance to fully wear in-100 miles.did you clean off the anti rust coating before you fitted them?

I didnt fit them, dont think the fella did though as they were still a charcoal colour when I had a good look the next morning, theyre starting to shine up a bit now though !!
