Just HPI'ed it and
Its all clear
- Says the value is £6064 lol
LOL @ some of the comments in this thread- 5k for a 172-
I think I did a definitive buying guide somewhere for the 182, but never 172-
Hers a couple of bits of information that will help you on the way- I will give you a value on what I think its worth at the end-
Service
43k is not all that should be considered when establishing service & what should be showing in the book, if we go by the one year rule then if it is an 03 plate it should have 6 service stamps by now-
Also, even though the car hasnt reached the 72k mark there should be 2 major services on the 3 year & 5 year Marker-
Residual value is greatly effected if the servicing is missing & not being renault ( there are one or 2 specialist exceptions but generally non franchise service is accepted as a depreciator against main dealer)- especially the older the car is-
Auxillary belt & Cambelt are due-
THIS IS NOT A SERVICE
Birchdown will complete this, but there are others locally- All in all on a round trip you are looking at £500-
Keys- How many sets are there? X2 or 1- Dock £100 off value for 1 key only
ACTUAL Vehicle Condition- Bodywork repairs & wheels/tyres are more expensive than servicing so for a 6 year old car you will need to go over the panels with a fine tooth comb for 'NON wear & tear anomalies that will cost quite a lot of money to repair-
Check panel allignment-
Every panel that has dents is around £60 per panel & Every Alloy thats kerbed is around £70 to repair
How many Owners?? Dont forget to check the logbook- on an 03 plate you should really be looking around 2/3 previous owners- that is bases on a change every year & a half-
Interior Always check the wear & tear on the Steering Wheel ( especially this model as the rubber thumb grips are prone to defects, & of course the obligatory sense check of vehicle mileage V quality of gear shift gater & wheel, also Mats- are they worn.-
That mainly covers things- engine checks are crucial as well, as well as the mundain bits like Lights etc etc
& take it for a road test!!!!!!!!!!!
Valuation........ You are not a Main dealer, your not a trader- therefor you cannot offer peice of mind to a potential buyer on things like warrenty etc etc-
Therefor you cannot offer forecourt prices- only Private listing prices & they are generally a lot cheaper than classifieds, but above trade in value-
Heres my opinion based on the car for £2500 k-
To sell that on Pistonheads from your position as a non trader best price you are looking if the service is all renault & the bodywork is immaculate & the belts are done is around 3.75k
So you currently have 1.25k profit-Its never as easy as that though- Now start chipping away at that-
belts £500
£750 left-
Key £100 ( if there is only one)
£650 Left-
ANY VEHICLE maintenaince that is due or is visible- & there will be some- I would bet my bottom dollar on it-
So best case scenario is
£650 Profit
Worst case scenario is ZERO profit if there is extensive spraying & parts work required to the car- possibly even a loss......
I hope this helps
