Been to Angelworks!

Needed spark plugs changing and a bit of investigative/repair work doing on the car.
I can't afford the time out of work to get things done in the week so it had to be a Saturday.

Got in touch with Ben, who managed to fit me in 1st thing this morning - Cheers Ben!!

Should have had some rear pads fitted but when Ben removed the wheels we noticed that they were only about 30-40% worn. Renault told me 4 months/5k miles ago that they needed replacing whilst they were servicing it. They said they were over 70% worn. Tut-tut, they must have been having a bad week.:S

Anyway, Ben just boxed the pads back up and put them back on the shelf. No need to pay anything, so it saved me a few quid.:)

I was really impressed with the set up down at Angelworks. I'll definitely be going there again, even though its a 75 minute drive. Had a great drive home, I'm going to have to save up for one of his manifolds now.;)

Cannot fault Ben's work. Always very helpful. And from everyone elses comments....top bloke;)

You have the AWT manifold right Chris? As you're not far away [think you mentioned it] it would be good to discuss your mani and my RS tuning re-map over a drink now the nights are drawing out.

We'll have to have a mini-meet or even a Breakfast run......:race:

  182 Trophy
I'm going next Thursday for 36k service and a matched inlet manifold which are highly recommended on this forum. Angelworks pricing seems to be very competitive too. Look forward to meeting them :)

Like your engine bay coolchris. Is that the Hillpower induction kit? and if so, how do you rate it?

  Civic Type-R
I was down there yesterday having inlet match and a service. Very impressed with the work done and and excellent service. Ben certainly knows his stuff!

renault always lie about brake where i took my car there before with brand new disks and pads and they said they where 40% worn

Its just a visual check they do. They can be quite accurate somtimes plus there error on caution and there minimum pad thickness ie where 0% is where there some pad still left.

Racerstu, presuming you haven't had a remap, did you notice any noticeable low down torque gains with the AWT inlet manifold? I'll be getting a remap after having the inlet done, but interested to see what the gains are like prior to remapping...

  Civic Type-R
I havnt had a remap no. The car certainly pulls better now and is a lot smoother through the rev range. Seems to have improved acceleration all round really. Definately glad I had it done!

Rate the HillPower Induction Kit very much, heat shielded design seems logical. Comes with 2 cold air feed pipes. I have one going to front lower grill and other down side of gearbox to bottom of n/s wheel arch liner. Induction roar is nice and deep. Once fitted looks the job too;) Plan too get remap soon, as already got inlets done, 182 manifold, sport cat & full magnex.

coolchris, I got your pm with moby yes. Just finding time to put an hour aside!! You know what the missus's can be like.

Seriously thinking about a Milltek exhaust and Bens manifold, though that would be around £650 all in!!

Think its gonna have to be one or the other, sounds like the mani will give best gains and when we removed the upper plenum yesterday you could see the step down in the casting.

£239 all in for the AWT stuff. £400 for the Milltek with not much gain over my Powerflow, only the cachet of brand name.

Decisons decisions....

Get a loan and buy the lot, including the all singing, dancing ultra lightweight BenR exhaust. Thats what I'm doing when my oe one falls off.

Yes, as I was trying to say. A guy over on Clio Trophy forum actually came in his pants when he saw it.

I know what you mean, I have 7 month old boy and sometimes theres not enough hours in the day. What part of Newark area you in. I pass a monacco blue sport quite often where i live near Balderton. Manifolds will be money better spent if you already got exhaust.

I was talking to Ben in depth about exhausts and he never mentioned developing one?
My powerflow cat back is a 2" system, but he thought the standard Renault system is 2.25".

The garage that made mine up put on same diameter pipework as they took off.:S And that was the original that broke at 47000miles.

Anyway, its ok, I just fancy a Milltek. Or a BenR special if the price is right;)

That's rather strange he did'nt mention it, check out Clio Trophy. Ben's wont be cheap, but it will be the ultimate.

i didnt think to mention it as its well out of most peoples reason.

But we will be doing a 'budget' type exhaust that concentrates on performance rather than any fancy trims, or materials etc. I'm considering mild steel just to lower the price even more.

Thanks again for the work you did yesterday Ben. Very much appreciated. :D

I'm counting my hard earned as I type......:approve:

Nothing wrong with mild steel. Had a ''Devil'' one on my 5gtt, lasted for as long as I had it.

precisely, so long as its a good grade of steel.

Wont concentrate on fancy looking welds, or fancy silencers etc, it'll run a singled tuned chambered rear box. I'd like it to come out at about £500-550. And no sodding tail trims....just pipes.

Is it the most costive Clio exhaust ever? Put us out of our misery Ben.
If it's out of the financial reach of a typical Clio owner[and we're not loaded] what's the point?

IF its around 12 hundred I'll buy one. Can you give me a rough idea on the weight diff from standard?

  cup 182 mit stripes
Thats a good few kg's. With that and my buddy clubs and ditched passenger seat I'm down to phase quick weight.
