belkin wireless g plus mimo router help with speed to other pc`s and laptop

ive got it connected to my pc down stairs the speed to the pc is 100 as im on virgin broad band my daughter has a lap top in her room the best speed it shows is 50 ? the laptop is brand new 3 days old , my lad has a pc in his room connected with wireless g network adaptor and his only shows signal poor speed 25 . ive tried changing around channels on router to see if this does anything but no luck as told to try by belkin help line any help please

I'm guessing the PC is connected via a cable to the router, which is why its got 100, unless its got a fast wireless adapter.

Most laptops come with a maximum speed of 54 so it won't connect any higher than that.

Wireless speed is only 'up to' whatever speed is stated, alot of the time u won't get that speed due to inteference/distance. but TBH it won't make any difference for web browsing, as the fastest your broadband will be is probably around 10mb.

Providing its got a good enough signal and appears to be working fine I wouldn't worry about it.

or if you want it better, buy a more expensive ROuter, on the Belkin box there this diagram, it will show which 1 is the best for web,download etc,

belkin only do 4 routers and the wireless g plus mimo is 3rd best the only 1 above it is n1 mimo ideal for streaming video,online gaming,mp3 downloads,web surfing/email

that connection means nothing really.. your internet speed will be much lower than that connection speed so it wont matter.

what virgin package are you on?

M = 2mb
L=4mb
XL=10mb

but the XL in some areas (guessing most areas by now) is 20mb (like mine ), and i get 17mb via wireless and 19mb via cable through my linksys router.

i had to run a TCP optimizer (search google) to set the computers recieve window to the right size for 20mb broadband

i hate belkin stuff.

Im also not a fan of belkin equipment. Numerous friends have bought them thinking there fine there cheap only to end up spending more on a better router further down the line as the belkins were either slow, failed or continually dropped the wireless signal.
