Best Alarm On The Market

My brothers looking for a very good alarm to put on his escort rs cosworth.

Ive got a clifford concept 300 on my 16v, and my other brother has a clifford concept 600 on his vts, and hes thinking of probably getting the 600.

Any other suggestions? Its has to be thatcham approved.

toad alarms are very well respected, sometimes held in higher regard than clifford. I think with a car like an escort cossie, visual detterants are one of the best things to have, i.e a bright yellow disklok. could even have your own wheel clamp???

what bout clifford avantgard??? top of the range clifford i think, comes with all the toys and sensors etc, might be worth getting it delocked and u can get places that will put iron bars in the door edges so they cant be bent down, also prob best to go for the saftey glass sh*t like a window tint but once on if some 1 smashes it the window will hold together and they cant get in, then there are the locks that lock the entire gear linkage and u just have a little lock in the car u turn etc.

quiet a few things he can do depends on what he wants to spend.

I would say clifford would be the best....

if its gotta be thatcham catargory approved, then its gotta be a concept clifford 300, 500 or a 600, has the cossie got nice alloys? Coz the only difference betwene the concept 500 or 600 (apart from the price) is a module that detects the car being tilted or jacked up (i.e jacking up to nick your alloys) & sets the alarm off! if he doesnt have expensive alloys thens there no point in paying the extra for that module, Ive got the 500 with all closure & remote start & when I try jacking the car up or washing it with a jet washer the proximity chirp still goes off! so i dont see what the point is in the extra module IMHO. seeing as the proximity sensor goes off anyways, & if the proximity sensor carries on going off then the actual alarm will go off to.

But I think that remote start cancels out the thatcham catagory 1!! so you might wanna ask ur ice shop about that if he/she wants that.

I have two leds on my motor (or had now! - sold car) one on the dash in the centre & one in the centre console & I had no problems with my ICE being stolen & that was a softop.

hope that helps

One of my mates supplys and fits alarms. Have spoken to him on this subject and he said stay away from Avantgard for definate. Not even Cat 1 approved. He recommended a Toad Ai606, I have one of these on my 16v and neva had any problems with it, Ive got Glass Break, Dual Zone Proximty, Knock Sensors and mine. Very secure. My friend had a 300 on his Audi and he claimed it was always going off for no reason.
