Best Anti virus software?

Already got Norton 2007 for the PC and find it really slow on start up! Have to wait 5-10 mins before I can start using the net.

Buying a new laptop and want a good anti-virus package on it, anyone recommend any good ones??

I used to always have norton but have changed to bullguard and had no problems at. I think you can get month free trial on their website to try it if you want. When you pay you also get the function to back-up data to there underground bunker so if your computer goes wrong you can download it again

Norton made my pc do odd things and ended up me having to reformat it! AVG is good, McAffee i think it is also has good write ups.

avast or avg imo. i've used both. Def get rid of Norton, although that can be tricky to get rid of it completely.:mad:

Yes, hence you get what you pay for.

I dunno, maybe I keep my nose clean on the Internet but had Nod for the last 2 and a bit years and NEVER had one single problem. No virus, no trojan, no bad files, no nothing. I found AVG would slip up from time to time and have trouble getting rid of certain viruses.

Nod has been excellent and also seems to use very little system resources which is a bonus and looks more professional than AVG (which of course matters!)

Kaspersky 6.0, hands down the best, includes Spyware too with real time shields and hourly updates
In every online test and now latest PC Pro mag it's well ahead of all the others
I've had loads of probs recently, spent ages checking all the options and its by far the best product I've used, some of the others are quite good but some of the big named products are total crap, proven in several group tests
£15 PC World or get the latest PC Advisor mag and it comes with the full security suite, install it before Aug and you get version 7 for half price when it comes out

Windows = over 10,000
Linux = 7 (none have been seen in the wild for about 6-7 years, most of them didn't get you root priviledges)

Ergo best anti-virus product = Linux ;)

is this right?

its constantly scanning "file anti virus", wont this affect my ram or cpu speeds?
