best garage to take my 172 cup close to stoke on trent

Hi all.. i think i have the dephaser pulley problem mentioned on this site all the time just wondering if there is anywhere close to stoke that anyone can recommend to have a look and get a quote on cost of the job.. the engine has sounded like a deisel for a while and its a shame not to get the car fixed because its in cracking nick appart from this noise! thanks to anyone that can help in advance danny

yeah can be sorted, could be waterpump on top too, may aswell get the lot done, its a 172cup without aircon so its cheaper to do anyway than an aircon car

New belts + dephaser + Oil & filter. around £500-£600

Try birchdown in Malpas or of course fred @ BTM

as its a 172 cup if it has no climate it wont need full aux belt kit- so will be cheaper

do you know roughly how much mate.. and where i can have it done.. would nottingham be closest?
ive just fitted new filters and oil changed at the weekend and spark plugs

I would honestly recommend you travel to either BTM or Diamond rather than rely on some local garage who isnt familiar with these cars.

Its very uncommon for a local garage to get the timing spot on, and cam timing on these particular engines is far more vital to performance than on most cars.

how long does the job take.. will it be same day job?
chip.. to be honest mate i would rather take it to one of these guys that come on here and help people out and give free advice.. would much prefer to give decent folk like that the money for the job

A Cup will take around 2.5hrs and you can wait/watch if you like but the longer we talk the longer the job takes.
