best/most reliable external hard drive

looking at getting a new external hard drive more than likely a 1tb got a couple of buffalo externals at the minute and they seem to be ok but are they any brands out there to avoid or which ones have a really bad rep??

I usually go for Western Digital!!

The 1TB Western Digitals look pretty good!

i buy hitachi 2.5 ....just the hard drive, then buy a case off ebay with usb connection, plug it in, partition it...bobs ya unclet.... cheaper then buying a branded one, plus it will last longer

I have a 1tb Western Digital Green in an Enclosure and a 500GB WD Green in my Popcorn Media player. Very quiet and run cooler as well. Link below
