Where is the best place to buy a laptop nowadays? Do PC world and Currys and all them still rip people off.

I just want a cheapo one, use the internet, a bit of photoshop/photo managing and probably play Championship manager.

Anybody recmommend anything?

Cheers.
Pete.

I got my refurb through PC World's website. It was like brand new when I got it, seriously couldn't spot any marks on it. I paid £350

Still going great 18 months later

pc world, comet and all the others are really good. I my acer desktop from Comet, laptop from PC world and the missus 12" acer from Tesco, tesco and asda usually have some good deals

Try play.com too, oh and Amazon. it helps if you know what model you want or most of the features you need than you can just compare them all. It sounds like im just naming every shop i can thikn of but at the end of the day just shopping arounds the best bet

Cheers guys, I guess its shopping time.

What kind of spec do you think I'd be best getting considering its not going to be any major gaming and only a bit of photo editing/managing?

Cheers, I'm useless at this type of thing.

For that price the processor is the main thing you want to budget for. Anything "Intel Core Duo" or "Intel Core 2 Duo" if you can get it would be the biggest deciding factor IMO as RAM can be added at a later date.

If you buy a PC from PC World, I will actually disown you.

I agree that they're a bunch off tossers but if they've got the pc you want cheaper than anywhere else whats the problem? Just ignore all there bullshit that comes with it

Right... I've decided on that Dell laptop they show on the advert available in many colours. Currys do it for £369.

I want 2 of them, so they would cost £748 I'm going to go in and ask for them both for £650 and hopefully get them for £700. What are my chances?

good laptop. Would have gone for it myself if it had a rs232 coms port. Went for a Medion from saisburys with 250Gb hard drive and 4Gb ram for £293 in the end
