Best thing to remove brake dust

Hi all my car has heavy break dust on tried rubbing it off and using iron x but hasn't moved looks like it has set right in any ideas?

Alloy Wheel cleaner, brush it on leave it to do its work.

Failing that I'd probably try polishing it off. I'm sure some of the detailing boys will come along with some superior advice.

Pop a pic up ? Are you sure it's brake dust ?

IronX should remove it, presuming it is actually brake dust ! Bilberry is a safe brake-dust remover too .. IronX should easily remove it though as it's far harsher than billbery.

I'll get pics up later it's like it's rusted on would hardly come off when used abit of wire wool to try loosening it.the brakes cause a lot of dust been 4 pots and ds2500

If it is brake dust, and iron x wont remove it I doubt a wheel cleaner will. Iron X paste is supposed to be a stronger option for localised areas. try a couple more hits with the normal iron x and a bit of aggitation.

Have a quick go with a tar remover also just incase it isn't brake dust.

If got PF97 dust off my 2118's without blinking when nothing else would touch it!

Fred, that stuff sounds like what i could do with. My turinis and 182 alloys are covered on the inside, would love to completely clean them up. Hows it work? Spray on and agitate, leave it for a while before agitate etc?

I use descaling acid or brick acid when i'm presented with rock hard brake dust.

You can buy it in B&Q.

Just don't get it on your skin and be prepared to have very clean brake calipers as well! lol.

Have you tried a tar remover on it yet? a lot of the time people think they have "baked on break dust" they can't shift it quite commonly ends up being small tar spots that have got baked on, thats from our experience anyway with people coming in for advise and alike.

If the iron contamination remover didn't remove it id be surprised if it was brake dust.

Caustic Soda, bleach and Cillit Bang.....
Bang and the wheel is gone.

If none of that works a shot blaster will take it off, and the paint but.

I'd try whitespirit. On a cloth.

Failing that a good file down.
