Big spec N/A cars on here?

All of those cars are running 1*2 based catcams, anybody know of anyone using mk3 based cams/head? Looking to know what sort of bhp and torque something based on 403's might produce? Retaining VVT and hyd lifters I would have thought 230bhp should be achievable on a 200 head/inlet?

Cheers
If you run high comp with 403's you should definitely see somewhere near 230hp. They're a similar profile to the R3 maxi cams I've got for mine. Torque wise your looking at around 170-180lbft which is also similar to the R3 maxi setup. That's based on running the oe inlet and not itbs though.
If you run itbs and you can improve on the woefully short runner length that you are forced to run due to the 197/200 front crash structure, you'll see gains there for definite.

Induction kit, I've got a 200 so choices are limited and I don't especially want a dry cell battery which is needed for the v6. Basically it's ktec or nothing. But the std aitbox will unlikely flow 230 due to it being the same unit as even the 1.4's use I think.

Yeah the standard air box is in a hideous place on them tbh. You'll see benefits from taking an air feed direct from the scuttle panel if it's possible mate

Is it not possible to put a 200 engine in and work from there? Or is there a lack of development on the 200 engines?

Yeah you could do, but the block is different to the 1*2 block. The bolt pattern for the gearbox is also different so it means a different box to the jc5 as well, so that means different shafts. It's not impossible though mate, just requires a little thought and fabrication.

Ah rite ok mate. Shame as a itb'd 200 engine in a 182 would be cracking, especially given the fact that most dont make 180bhp.

Good question there mate! The combustion chamber is a different design, but you could replicate it on the 1*2 head. It's a relatively simple machining job, but obviously they all need to have the same volume.
To get the ports the same - your fucked. That's the simple truth. The exhaust ports are pretty much identical position wise, but they're slightly smaller on the 197, although that's no real drama. The 200 maybe the same but I've not seen one. I'd imagine they are tbh. Inlet port entries are higher up than the 1*2 head so you'd have to weld up the inlets to put back the material that's been removed to create the original 1*2 port. Then once the heat from the welding has distorted/warped the head you start wondering why you bothered. Lol!
I adapted a 197 inlet to fit on to a 172 ph2 cylinder head a few years back, so that's how I know the ins and outs. It's a huge task to do the job and it's simply not worth the grief. I didn't do the welding up of the ports, it's what I found out after I'd adapted the head/inlet.

Thanks Mark, looking into planning engine work on mine for the future. Hope you won't mind in fututre me racking your brains when I get to the engine on mine :)
