Bigger wheels bad?

Car  Audi TTS S Tronic
Hallo guys!

I have been told that bigger diameter wheels e.g. 17" over the stock wheels 15" are damaging.

a) Can put more of a strain on gearbox

b) use more fuel

c) slower acceleration

d) need more braking power to stop within the same distance as smaller wheels

This is because there is more metal for the gearbox to turn, over a bigger distance

Is this correct?

Would you stick to 15" wheels, or go 17"

Reason I ask is, I mentioned this to my dad, and he doesn't believe what I am saying (the car came with 17" wheels when I bought it last month)

Any comments?

also, tyres are alot more expensive, and youll put more strain on your drive shafts as the gearing will be slightly out,

and not that it matters, but your speedo will be 3% inaccurate with bigger wheels lol

id stick with 15, 16s if you like big wheels.

17s are faaar too big imo, car will need a lot more lowering to sit right too.
