Bird Turd = damaged paintwork!

  RS Megane DCi 175

I noticed yesterday I had a monsterous bird turd on me bonnet, we aint talking your normal bird either, this was Emu proportions.

Anyway, I sponged it off last night...went out this morning and the flippin things left a mark & scratches!

It is smallish but its noticable (about 80mm diameter)...whats the best way of remove the skiddies from my bonnet? Will it polish out coz it looks a bit too deep for that.

Any help would be appreciated.

Mine gets pooped on all the time as i park under a tree for most of the day, the key is not totry to aggressively get the crap off, i get a bit of kitchen rolll and dampen it with warm water then leave it on the crap until its dried a bit. Then i take it off and wipe it down, all gone!

Try a "mild" scratch remover, scratch X or GS27 from halfords should do the trick... works a treat for these minor marks.. im sure itll pollish out.. I have completely removed a fairly obvious stratch from my side pod that arrived from somewhere by using this stuff!

wash off with hot (and I mean hot) water, sponge it, polish it then some kind o T-Cut os still bad. Should be able to get all signs of it off unless you have left it for a bit.

Had two occasions where bird crap has f**ked my paint up. Ate throught the paint on the boot of the wifes silver A4 a couple of years ago. But recently had a Freelander company car which went back in March. Prior to giving it back, I had to have the whole bonnet resprayed and Land Rover graphic replaced at a cost of £170. The bird sh*t was left on the car as a result of my crashing my motorbike and ending up in plaster so could not wash it.

Moral of the story - Dont crash motorbikes, dont break bones, buy a gun and shoot all birds (feathered kind) spotted within half a mile of your car.

This is serious sh*t!!!

yeh use a fine t cut, something like auto glym,or t cut original, dont go in circles go side to side or up and down,it will take a bit of getting out but if you do it long enuf i guarantee you will have it out,it might look bad but it will go with enuf work.

when fifnshed put some of ure usual polish on top and you will never know it was there.

I carry some wet wipes in the car with me now just in case I cannot wash it in time to make sure the bird sh*te doesnt mark it, seems to work fine for me as it just wipes off.

Thanks fellas, loads of advice - cheers!

Ill go and give it a go, nip to Halfords and see about some mild scratch remover.

I have been told that you should never use T-cut on a car with metallic paint. Is this true?

Same here, plus I keep a large bottle of water in my boot just in case the poo has dried on, if I am not at home, as it is best to wet some kitchen roll/wet wipes and leave it on the poo to soften it, then give it a good soaking and wash it off. Dont try rubbing it off if it is hard and dry, or your car will get scratched.
