i think i got it from a bit torrent site. it keeps changing the web page im viewing and the lap top is functioning really slow. even typing appears slow and the letters dont always come up.
ive got AVG by the way ran a scan and came up with nothing.

i think i got it from a bit torrent site.

LOL thats what they all say ;)

Have to admit I am wondering whether it is worth having AVG at all, all it does is increase boot up times whilst it downloads updates.

My advice is to do a system (factory) restore as it should be a 100% solution and give you peace of mind. I wouldn't mess about trying to remove the virus.

It will work so long I would guess but sounds a bit OTT really as you will lose everything that you have saved or changed since owning it.

ok, i heard with vista you can reset you pc back to a date before you had the virus, any truth behind this? if i do do the reset how do i go about it?
cheers for the help btw.

If you use the Vista system restore then that shouldn't be such a problem, don't know how successful it is though as I've not used it before and the XP version wasn't the best.

Use spybot as ben says. I had a similar virus from a 'bit torrent site' (;)) and this solved it.

If not, type what the virus says on your screen, or the site it makes you visit into google. It will then link you to loads of pc forums of geeks with similar viruses, and the exact cure for them... thats what i did.
