black screen when i download

everytime i try to download anything like cough * music album, dvd's cough* or computer software etc it downloads for abit then the screen go's black and everythings go's on stanby and the onlyway to get computer back to life is to turn it off at the plug i hate doing this as it f**ks your computer up have loads of virus checkers spyware firewall etc on my pc all upto date but it doesnt find anything wrong but its only when i download but my mum said it did it to her when she was luckin at holidays it's happend once before so i reformatted it and wiped the lot but its come back and i dont realy want to go through all that again anyone any ideas?

You need to explain what you are using to download and things like that.

ok i use bit tornado to download with but some times it will download sometime it doesnt could it be a problem with this programme?

Does it only happen when using that software? When you say it goes into standby do you definitely know it goes into standby (start > shutdown > standby to compare). If it is going into standby then try disabling that. A lot of machines don't like going in and out of standby and it's probably not a feature you need. Have you got the program set to shutdown or go into standby when a download has finished?
