Black Tube Thingy....

Hey guys got a question for you, was doing some work on the car earlier (front drivers side wheel arch) and saw a black tube canister thing infront of the wheel arch in the space between the front bumper and the chassis. Havent got a pic of it because its too dark to take one now, but does anyone have an idea what this might be?

I think that might be the 'carbon' canister - the fuel tank vents through it or something.

Had mine binned ages ago.
