black wheels+tyre gel

Car  clio 182 sport
is it true what people say do you have to apply tyre gel on black wheels all the time for them to loock nice. every time i clean my car i put it on anyway but its the in between im worried about. wanting to do my 182 wheels gloss black for summit different but not sure if i can take the plunge o 182 titanium by the way.

If the tires look dull and faded then it usually looks ghetto to me. Got to keep it looking clean.

Black wheels look nice, but yeah they will make the tyres look filthy unless they are dressed regularly

If the tyres get regularly topped up with tyre gel then they are never going to look dirty anyway. keep em topped up and they will be fine, i just do mine every week when washing my alloys.

Yes ;)

I use this and it normally lasts a week at least. Use one of those little plastic cased applicator foam thingys there too...!

By the time the tyre gell has worn off tyres and wheels looks the same just abit more dull all over but when i wash the car i gel the tyres too so yet again it all looks the same.

Here's something that never gets brought up.

When using tire shine/gel, does anyone ever do as much as they can and leave the bit that is near the ground, then move the car forward a foot, and do the bit that was missing?

Isn't that a bit iffy? - Surely you're best just using a cleaner on the walls and jet washing the actual treads if your that anal.

No

you miss that little of an amount on the tyres its not worth rolling it forward to do that 3 inch of tyre youve missed because by the time you have rolled down the road it will all be the same.

I've always wondered what stuff to use to get the tyres REALLY shiny, I've never found anything.

Oh and no, I've never moved the car forward to do the bit I've missed. In fact I only dress the tyres when I can really be bothered. I hate washing my car (although I do use two buckets), detailers would despair.

Yeah true thing about the treads, will have to jack up in future and give them a scrub. :o

You could go get the megs stuff or some thing that some one on here will say is best.
Personally all i do is go down to my local asda that has a valet while you shop bay and chuck them a fiver to fill a 2ltr bottle of their tyre shine and that pretty much lasts me a very long time, applied with a brush from a jar and its bob on sort of thing.

Autosmarts Hi shine is really good stuff, last ages and is really shiney!

I'll try and find a pic

I think the guy meant the part of the tyre wall close to the ground that you sometimes can't get when dressing. Not dressing the actual tread.

Wait, people thought I was reffering to the actual tread on the tire?

I was reffering to this bit:

blackfire tyre gel is awsome stuff. I always found dressing the tyres one of my best parts of cleaning the car. Quick, easy and changes the look straight away.

Meguirs Tyre Gel works a treat, long lasting and smells like bubble gum :D

Shiney tyres gives the car that final touch

Oooh thanks, will see if I can find some :)

All the different stuff I've ever bought in Halfrauds has never been that good.

Although I like the idea of stuff that smells like bubble gum too..
