Hi,

Just in the process of buying a black car (I know they're a pain the arse to keep clean!) and the trouble is, I don't really know where to start with making the car spot on. The only car I've owned has been Silver so with the Werkstat Acrylic kit, has been very easy to keep on top of.

The paintwork overall is in pretty decent condition as it is but there is the obvious signs of swirling etc. I've been reading about glazes and Blackhole in particular. Would this be the best for black?

Also, is a wax or sealant best for going over the top of this?

Cheers

hello bud i have a black 182 and was looking into the same kinda thing, with the usual wash, clay etc i have just bought poorboys black hole and nattys paste wax. waiting on some decent weather to see the results

I've heard that's a good combination.

Which Nattys Paste Wax did you go with?

I have a BG182, and I went on Gally' recommendation and bought Prima Amigo Polymer Glaze rather than Black Hole, and it does a brilliant job on my car, which is in desperate need of a machine polish.

Your a brave man, I'll give kudos to anybody who has the dedication to keep a black car long term, think I had my R26 for 4 months that's about all I could handle of spending all morning getting it mint, and after a 10 minute drive it looking filthy again..

In the end I gave up lol

Unless you're well into detailing, black is a no no IMO. My last car was black. Never again. Never.

Its not really a problem having a black car, just don't bother washing it, there's no point.

I used to use AutoGlym SRP then clay, then black hole on my 80k black 172...

These days it'd be DA'd to polish any defects then Black Hole or Prima by DA.

Wax .. something like AG HD Wax, or Natty's Blue paste wax, Dodo Juice blue *something* or if you want durability after refinement, try Collinite 476S.

If you'd prefer a sealant, I like Gtechniq C2. Easy to use and does exactly what it says on the bottle.

Prima Amigo as a glaze via hand or machine and just use your werkstat up mate or look at the Zaino (sealant) range.

If you want a wax let me know your budget mate.

Blackhole's great too, fills fantastically and gives real deep gloss to dark colours.

In reality, this car is swirled to buggery, ever since the wife took it to a waterless hand car wash when it was filthy:

But black looks so pretty when it's clean :o.

Cheers for all the suggestions so far lads. Either Prima Amigo or Blackhole is first on the shopping list.

With having a silver car I've never got into all the different types of waxes etc. What are the pro's and con's of a wax over sealant?
