Both my brother Riad and myself have been members on here a good while, although neither has own a clio...
I've always been a big fan however and after the first time back in 2000 when i was in my corsa 1.2sxi and was tanked by a flame red ph2 172 i thought 'ermmm wtf did that come from'... I'm lucky enough over the years to have piltoed the whole clio range from road to track and basically fall in love with the brand... Riad followed suit.
We're lucky that we have a normal meg to use day to day and i work local, if not I use public transport, this means TDK doesnt really get used and I can add to her bit by bit... so to cut a long story short Riad wanted to enter the fold....
I present...
Obviously we've only just got it so its not a project yet (added stickorz and a CS taxdisc!1!) but by jove it will be.
Got the car from London to BTM Performance in Birmingham on a flatbed this saturday, reason being the previous owner said the clutch release bearing had gone and it wouldnt drive, it arrives and fred jumps in, starts it and takes it round the block....
'coulda drove this up yannno' .FML.
so it does run and drive and if im honest its in bloody good nick.
granted the problems that are sticking out at the moment are;
clutch release and indeed clutch are hammered. (fred pulled half of it out on the spot)
Exhaust is chavvy and change needed (fred has said he has half a y0zza system that he can have built up at a good cost)
whole rear assembly (including lexarse lights is going phase2 oem)
needs new brakes and discs (easy fix)
dephaser pulley gone
belts need doing
dint in door
drivers window stuck half way
drivers wingmirror smashed
wheels need refurb (or change, Riad hearts ronals)
The car has service history upto 65k and is now on 104k... this doesnt bother me as freds said he will put it to a state where it will be equal if not better than when it left factory. by this i think he means throw a y0zza race system and some cams on, cough cough
the options and parts I thought ya'll on cliosport would apprieciate are the fact that it has come with;
spax adjustable suspension (will be coming off anyway)
Aluminium bonnet
perfectly fitting front bumper! (Apparently this is rare)
Magnecour Leads
V6 Airbox (still might change for a newer system)
Spare OZ wheel with tyre
NO warning lights
tax till december
Its going to be staying at BTM for a while whilst the stuff gets done, myself and Riad will sort the cosmetics, hopkins the proper stuff...
We will be taking a few parts of brownbears flame172 seats and steering wheel hopefully) as they are an easy swap and his car was SO well setup and looked after, it will also be getting wrapped, part of me didnt want to do so as the sun came out saturday and the paint is actually better than mine on the meg, iceburg shines like nothing i've seen in strong sunlight. I'm going to buy a whole door unit save *****ing with buying parts as we are SKINT as always! Some phase 2 sidestrips will also be required and some braided lines.
so yes, anyone who wishes to look after our baby with donations, parts, supercharger kits and 888s... feel free! jokes aside i cannot think of another car (maybe bar a saxo) where parts are so accesable and cheap which helps.
so we have decided overall to get her looking mint, drive it hard, break it, fix it and repeat. Cant think of a better car to do it in, all I know is we're going to cause some trouble doing it :evil: my suggestion we charge it and go into time attack was met with silence.
cheers all.
