Blowing exhaust help...

Hey, I noticed that I have a hole in my exhaust in the bend bit at the back, so i nipped halfords and brought a repair kit, which is a tube of paste and a metal wrap around thing...

The problem is that the 'thing' holding the exhaust on is wright where the hole is and seems to be welded on, is there anyway of repairing it?

either get a new rear section or go back to halfords and get a black and yellow pot of exhaust putty which i think is brilliant for small holes etc. bout 3.29 or something well worth it
