Blown £900 on Clio in one Day :(

  1.6 Focus, 1.6 122S

*Sigh*

Took my car in for a service and MOT at my local Dealer (The one I bought the car from). Turns out it was never given its 36,000 Mile Major Service even thought i bought th car off them with 38,000 miles on the clock.
My car then went and failed its MOT, requiring a new Driveshaft, Oil Filter, and an Engine Plate. Bringing the total to £600.

Because of the parts failing after me having had it for 1000 miles worth of driving I got them to put the new parts under warrenty meaning I spent £380 at the dealership.

I picked up the car at 6pm, drove to a concert for 7pm, left the concert at 11pm and whilst leaving the car park, turned acorner, slid out into a kerb ramming the front left wheel into the arch!

Clio got towed to a local Renault Specialist where ive just been told i need a new Wishbone, Anti-Roolbar Link, Strut Brace, Steering Rod and Wheel Bearing (I think acouple of other parts as well) Its also being MOTed cause the Dealership forgot to reMOT it!

Well I just got the bill fron the spialist being £580 bringing th total to £960 and i get my clio back end of this week.

I am not happy

oh no thats awful. Thats shocking about the ice slide. Im thinking could you get another opinion on the damage. It sounds like a lot of damage for just an "ice slide wheel into kerb". I remember doing this to my scirocco and only needed a new control arm. Wheel rubbed on arch when i braked......

Well I know what you mean, I was accelerating doing 20 just changing into third (wasnt in a rush). ans slide straight into it taking a 3 inch long grovve out of the kerb, about half an inch deep. :S

I got a couple of quotes, most expensive being the dealer who wanted £900 for the accident damage!

Basically what happened was the Anti-Roll Bar link and Wishbone were bent, so they replaced them. Just to make sure I had a geomerty test done and it was apparent that the other parts need to be replaced, they had just survived the impact but would fail sooner or later. Better to be safe than sorry.

Gutted mate!!

Good luck for your future of driving!! Its not always this bad!! It does get better!!

yeah its a f**ker that you cant claim on insurance (I wouldnt advise you do that for anything less than £1500)

Recently slid into a kerb at low speed, did the damage quoted in the first post on this thread, and more on top of that.. Suprising how much harm it actaully did (and how much its cost so far to fix!).

I think a shot of something stronger would fit nicly... !

The only thing thta im really hung up on is that when i get the car back, it will look exactly the same aprt from the two scratchs on the front bumpers.

I mean its half a brand new car and its just gunna look, tanited.

I only hope that it performs as it did when i picked it up from the service. The gear changes were smooth and sharp, steering a little light but very responsive and the acceleration sweet and smooth... if the accident has taken that away.. .. I am not a happy person.

thats unlucky mate, you should get a 2nd opinion on the damage because i got forced off the road once, smacked a kerb at about 30mph and only knocked the tracking out and mega kerbed my wheel

I got myself two opinions (both saying the same and 4 quotes. I went with the Local Renault Speicalists who were the second cheapest and had a good rep so i think in the time it all happened i made the best choice...

cost a hell load in towing costs!

Well, I just got my Clio back with a bill of £512. The car needs a good clean and both Renault and Steadfast forgot to give it an MOT, so its going for one of those tomorrow morning.

All I can say is im just happy to have my Clio back :)
