BMW X5 DVD Player Help

Car  Fiesta Silver Limited Ed.
Uncle just got a 52 plate 4.4i BMW X5.....Has a dvd player install in the boot with a remote with pioneer monitors in the headrest.......

Once the dvd is put in the dvd player it will load the DVD fine but when you press play....a small red circle and bar through the middle appears.....obviously not allowing it to work.....

The remote will either not contro it .......

Any help guys??

Perhaps something to do with the handbrake cable thing that stops it from displaying a moving image when the car is moving? It needs to be connected to the ground wire.

Has he by chance got a manual for the dvd player? In my experience the wire is usually green but that might not be the case, it just needs to be hooked up to the ground just Scotch-lock onto it.

Well there's still a chance that it could be that regardless.

So the dvd menu loads up fine so the dvd clearly works, but then when you select play movie or whatever it just stacks and dies?

correct....well it doesnt die, just everytime you press play it brings up that cross sign....as if to say this action is invalid

Right, so just to confirm this, this might sound a bit stupid but have you tried selecting the play movie icon on the actual dvd menu rather just pressing play on the remote?

Well the only thing I can think of in that case is the grounding of the handbrake cable, the installation manual is on the Pioneer website if you want to check the colour of the cable. Sorry I couldn't be more help. Good luck fella.
