bodyshop repairs not done. . . . . advice needed

right, as some of you will know i had a knock a couple of weeks back and needed stuff replacing (all done under insurance) and the body shop (macclesfield motorbodies) said that they would make the car as it was before. . . . .

this means replacing the mods i have added as follows; xenon headlamps, silvertec bulbs, 172 front grill, clear side repeaters, fully colourcoded, colourcoded sideskirts, 172 alloy wheels (front passenger side was curbed due to me trying to swerve away from the guy cutting me up).

they have replaced all except the drivers side xenon headlamp which, since the accident, wobbles quite alot when idling or going over bumps, and the have put on a standard dynamique grill. . . . . . .

i am pretty sure that the headlamp is illegal so that shouldnt be a problem, but what are peoples opinion on the 172 grill? i can pick one up from renault for not alot, and sell the dynamique brand new one for a tenner or so, but it is still 30 quid out of pocket. . . .

opinions please!!

Basically as terrorist said - first point of call is to give them a ring. Explain the headlight is busted and also the grille is wrong. I'm sure if they're half decent they'll sort it out for you.

However, if they don't - contact your insurance company.

terrorist, unfortunately is my dads insurance and tehy wont speak to me, in a nice way they basically said that they can only discuss things with my dad as it is his car, insurance etc (due to where i live, and my age at the time insurance was a joke for me on my own), but he managed to amke sure all was colour coded, so he is talking to them tomorrow. . . . .

guess im just being impatient to get it back to how it was, but just wondered if i stood a chance with them??

they did say summat about checking chassis number Revels mate, so maybe it is a mistake. theyve done top notch on everything else though!!

A s said they could have orderd the parts for the standard car. Just call back in and explain. If you have any photos of the car before the accident with the mods on, this will prove that your not pulling a fast one.

I won't start on the whole insuring it under a family member debate!

Sounds like a simple misunderstanding, get your dad to pop in and explain the different grille you had on, take in a photo if necessary. And the headlight should be a simple fix, probably just needs fitting properly.

if the headlight is wobbling its probably that the pivot ball joint inside the headlamp has come undone when they have been refitting it. can be a lil bit tricky to do but its just a case of pulling the interior section towards yourself.

sorry to say but that's what you get with insurance bodyshop repairers. They do 1/2 a job charge the insurer over the odds who have already screwed them down to even get to work on the car.

DO NOT USE INSURANCE BODYSHOPS!!!, its you right to choose which ever bodyshop you want to do the work - it's the law!
