Bolt fell off inside my engine!

Ok forgive me because im not a mechanic or technical! my dad is fixing my car as it had a bit of a oil leak, took the rocker cover off and discovered that a bolt had broken off!

its one of the bolts that secure the rod thats in the middle of the engine? so hes gone off to get a bolt from the dealer im just wondering what difference this will have to my car - it will be quieter i hope its was a bit ratty before!

a con rod bolt has "dropped" off?

if thats what it is yes there are about 5 bolts and its the one on the end (driver side) we've never had it open before,,,

happened to me on sunday!! judging by what happened to my engine this is something different or he might be a bit less calm..........

I imagine its one of the camshaft journel bolts. But pic would be handy.

Also what car 1.4 ph1 or ph2, aren't the 8v's single cam? So it would be in the middle of the engine

Looks like the bolts sheared off, gonna be a tw*t to get that out

bolts out my dad did that before he left, what problems will that have caused - i previously suffered from noisy engine, bad economy, loss of power, oil leak. the car is well looked after interms of regular maintinence and check ups.

Renault bolts are made of cheese anyway. Yeah I'd say that was a major factor causing those problems lol

LOL it would make a hell of a lot of noise! and could of blow the engine up

oh sorry what is it then that is partially unsecured?

the rocker shaft! from memory its held on by 4 bolts and 2 of them are oilways but i think thats the middle two.
if it is one of the bolts that carrys oil to the rockershaft then it may be noisy due to oil starvation

yes spoke to my dad - it was an oilway! hopefully fixed tomorrow! all my spark plugs were in a bad way!
