Boot troubles 172

So, the boot worked absolutely fine and then yesterday it just randomly didn't lock. So I took apart the boot lining itself and had a look and nothing was visually broken. I then shut it and disconnected and re-connected the battery in the hope to try and 'fix' it, and initially it done nothing.

NOW, after a few attempts of trying to get it to lock, it has done - but will not unlock.

I really hate issues like this so anybody who knows how to fix it, please help :/ my old 1.2 did it aswell but somehow completely fixed itself.

Thanks,
Ollie

Check the connections , including the wiring going from boot to roof in the rubber pipe.
i had this and it turned out to be a wire shaving against the metal on the inside from the rubber pipe

I will have another look but the boot is now locked so its going to be extremely difficult to see what's going on. Is there a part that fails which causes this to happen? It's extremely annoying!!

Right I took a video of the problem. Il list below
... Basically the lever which releases the boot works fine as I show in the video; but the button, when pressed, doesn't move the lever. It feels jammed (like the boot is still locked)

Help please somebody! It's driving me mad!

.... And idk how to upload video so pics below

This is with the mechanism untouched.

I then press the button (on boot) to open and the mechanism moves to here...

So it only slightly moves. BUT,
If I pull this metal lever, the boot release will work.
So in this picture I've pushed the lever forward and you can see the boot has released on the right.

Sorry for this long thread. But I had to show what was wrong with it!

Thanks in advance for help

You might have to unbolt the mech from the boot and see free up the button with some wd40 . It's either that or the internal mech has jammed on the button

when you lock and unlock the car do you hear the rear wanting to lock or is it just silent back there?

if its just silent it could be the solenoid that could be broken

if it does make the sound but doesn't lock it could be the button assembly its self

Already tried that and it didn't work so just took it all back off and put it back so it would be locked all the time oppose to unlocked. Ugh.
Thanks anyway for the suggestion mate, think il just have to buy another solenoid or something. Stupid bloody car

or just go to your local scrap yard and pay a fiver for the whole button assembly lol

or ebay...

I like the scrapyard idea. Il give that a try!

It's weird because my old clio done this and it fixed itself over the time of about 1 month.... Was extremely weird. This likely to do the same? Lol
