Boot won't lock sometimes

When I lock my car, the boot isn't locking sometimes. Not everytime, but happening more often. Any ideas?

Do the lights flash as normal when it doesn't lock? or does the high level brake like flicker?

Yes as normal, just dont hear the noise from the boot lock. No it doesn't flicker

that will probs be the boot solenoid on its way out or a loose connection perhaps?

I had this problem. Harbinger advised to re earth the rear lights and it hasn't happened since. Simple job as we'llwe'll

Mine called for a replacement solenoid.

Not sure what a solenoid looks like tbh. How much are they? Had the trim off around the lock before as a screw was rattling about in there!
