Braided Brake Hoses

Taken from a Renault tuners website.

"New stainless steel braided flexi-pipes for improved braking and firmer pedal, kit includes both front and rear pipes."

So can fitting braided hoses actually improve braking performance?

I have random theories in my head as to why this may or may not be the case, but my knowledge of braking systems isnt the greatest so I wont embarrass myself by posting them!!

The braiding helps to prevent the hoses from expanding under pressure. So in other words, all your braking pressure from your pedal goes to push the brake pistons in the caliper rather than on swelling up the pipes. Plus you get the extra abrasion resistance of braided, plus they are (or at least Goodridge ones are) guaranteed for ever. And they look wickeder than sh*tty old black rubber.

If anyone fancys clubbing together and doing a group buy on these - im all for it. I planning on buying a set in the next week. Im taking the opportunity to rebuild my front calipers and flushing my fluids.

the amount they actually swell and the difference the pedal will feel with braided hoses is debatable.one good point about them is that they wont split all the time like the renault ones do.

yes if you get one thats split.you can see the braiding through the split outer rubber part.

Bugger to fit though. Rounded unions on the norm, even with the proper union spanner. Use some plus gas or whatever its called several hours before hand and it might help you get the old ones off.
