brake fluid - quick q

am attempting to renew the fluid, tried the eazibleed kit but couldnt get a seal on it, so am doing it the old fashioned way!

when you pump the pedal down to expel fluid, the haynes manual says to tighten the nipple each time before you release pressure from the brake pedal, in order not to let air in - is this the same procedure for renewal of fluid? do you follow this step, as i know haynes do sometimes overcomplicate things a bit!

right. Take as much old fluid out of the resovoir as you can, pour in new stuff.

Get a jar stick some fluid in it run a hose from the nipple to the jar. Make sure its submerged (stops air bleeidng back in).

Gte another body in the drivers seat, tell them to slowly press the pedal down and when it gets to the bottom of its travel tell them to hold it there.

Right you tell them to start pressing and crack open the bleed nipple, you shoudl see horrible sh*tty fluid go down the tube. When its at the bottom close the nipple tell them to release the pedal.

Keep doing this until the new fluid starts to come out of the nipple.

Keep checking the resovoir to make sure its not getting low. if it does air gets in and you need to do it all over again.

or use the one way line that came with the kit.

And why wont it fit?

I have the same and our reserviour caps are the same.

ok i was a lazy sh*te and was put off trying again when my first attempt resulted in fluid everywhere, didnt want the same happening again. the old fashioned method seems much easier.

SOrry, i thought id try helping again as sarcy replys were getting boring, well, i was running out of material.

Steve.........how can pumping a pedal, runnig back to lock the nipple, pumping again, checking blah blah be easier than putting a hose on, hooking it up to a tyre and turning it on........wait for a while........done.........?........you a workaholic or something?

hmm ok, you have a point, like i said was just being lazy not wanting to piss about with different seals to get a fit. i also read a few other ppl saying theyd bought it and it was now redundnt in a dark corner of their garage and were being workaholics! but yeah seeing as im doing f**k all this week i will give it another go.

its such a usefull thing, i bleed every month...............saves me loads of time and getting oily.
